It seems that September 11th didn't waken just Americans.
A timeline of key dates in the decommissioning process that led up to the IRA's weapons being put beyond use.
I'm glad to see the IRA disarming, putting terrorism and violence behind them, and abandoning victimization.

I wanted to link to Lt. Colonel Dave Grossman's excellent essay on Sheep, wolves and Sheepdogs (actually I wrote him requesting permission to post it in it's entirety), but this essay (which quotes Lt. Colonel Dave Grossman) is more than worth the time it takes to read. Bill Whittle is right, to just be the busboy at that table would be worth it.Read it.
Read it all.

The word 'great' stands for something,...When you talk about a great actor, you're not talking about Tom Cruise.

I have three little words for anyone who flies: Noise Cancelling Headphones.I bought a pair for my last business trip to Arizona. I also picked up an MP3/CD player, so I could enjoy the flight (Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Charles Mingus, and Dave Brubeck were to be my travelling companions).
The player didn't seem to want to work, but I learned I'd need headphones for the in-flight movie (Sahara -- not too bad; not too good either).
I had the fortune of sitting across from four children under five, whose petulent voices were sure to test the capabilities of the headphones. I was unaffected, as the headphones broached no intrusion. After the movie I found an in-flight music channel streaming Mel Torme. Still, no discordant voices penetrated my reverie.
Ahh.... bliss
Remember travellers, don't leave home without them.
